Jesus and the Woman at the Well (Pack of 5)

John 4 records the longest of the thirty-seven recorded conversations Jesus had with individuals while on earth (John 4:7–26; cf. 21:25). It is the greatest New Testament sermon on worship, but only one individual heard it—and we do not even know her name.

Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well is more than a casual dialogue—it is a masterful illustration of Christ’s mission to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). In John 4:1–42, we see Jesus showing His purpose, which He had already shown in Jerusalem (John 3:1–21). Jesus is being pursued and is pursuing—the lost are His focus; He is theirs. Nicodemus pursues Him. Jesus pursues the soul of the Samaritan woman; the inhabitants of Sychar pursue Him. His example provides a blueprint for evangelism, compassion, worship,
and truth.
