Truth a Study of John 8:32

“What is truth?” was Pilate’s question when the Truth was (literally) looking him in the face (John 18:38). Men are still asking Governor Pilate’s question. The answer they need to hear is, “Your Word is truth” (John 17:17). The word truth is found 336 times (including true, truthful, truths, and truly) in the Bible (172 in the New Testament1). The word translated truth in Proverbs 16:6 means “firmness, faithfulness, truth.” James ascribes supreme importance to “the truth” throughout his epistle (1:18, 21–23; 3:14; 5:19–20), as did his older Brother before him (John 8:32), who was “the truth” (John 14:6).
