Sourdough Christians - The Parable of the Leaven (Pack of 5)
Tract-0539Sourdough Christians - The Parable of the Leaven (Pack of 5)
Prospectors of the Old West were often called “sourdoughs” because a stoppered bottle of such a solution was usually found in the supplies their pack donkeys carried. When a little of the potent sourdough was mixed with flour, water, and salt, it produced a bread loaf the prospector baked over the open fire in his iron pot.1 God wants us to be “sourdough Christians” (though He does not want us to be sour Christians!). He wants us to have an effect that spreads to those around us the same way sourdough spreads through a lump of flour.
This short parable teaches about influence. Christianity is supposed to be contagious! There exists no mightier power, for good or evil, than personal influence.
