If I Am Lifted Up (Pack of 10)

The cross is the magnet of Christianity.

Have you considered that Christianity’s chief symbol is an implement of death? Or that Christians gather weekly to commemorate a brutal public execution? They regularly quote these graphic words: “This is My body which is given for you . . . This cup is the new testament in My blood” (Luke 22:19–20).

The resurrection transformed a hideous instrument of shame into an object of glory and cause for celebration. Jesus predicted it: “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself” (John 12:32). He said this within a few hours of Gethsemane
and a day of Calvary.

What is “lifting up”? John uses it three times (3:14; 8:28; 12:32) and each compares Jesus to a different thing.
